YEVGENIYA BARAS
Still Moving To Me
15 October – 12 November 2022

STATION | MELBOURNE

Still Moving To Me is the second solo exhibition presented with STATION in Australia by Soviet-born, New York-based artist Yevgeniya Baras.

Known for her rich and layered paintings, Baras' works act as vestiges and relics of her everyday. Such works take shape through the act of layering of materials including fabrics, paper pulp, wood, and personal items. Process is essential to Baras, who works on several paintings at once, often spending several years on each piece before releasing it into the world.

Inspired by narratives of home and migration, Baras' new suite of works are charged with an electric juxtaposition between abstract and representational, the physical and emotional, and fact and fiction.
