JAKE WALKER
ABOUT TIME
1 August – 12 September 2026

STATION | MELBOURNE

STATION is delighted to present ABOUT TIME by Jake Walker, the artist's sixth solo exhibition with the gallery.

The show’s title, ABOUT TIME, acts as a double entendre which speaks to both the elasticity of time while also inviting a reflection on the ways in which art can release us from experiences of stagnation or mundanity of modern life. ABOUT TIME follows an ongoing line of enquiry in Walker's practice into the expanded field of painting. The ceramic frames extend this thinking, offering a kind of architecture for the paintings they house. His works establish and assert a physical and sculptural presence, provoking the viewer to question how long we are prepared to look at an image, and how painting might challenge or resist a flat and purely pictorial reading. He positions these works as a deliberate counter to contemporary image saturation, allowing us a quieter moment to consider more closely the ways in which time can materialise and more so how it can be held, tracked, revisited and embedded across our ideas, surroundings and creative practices.
