Kien Situ

Kien Situ (b. 1990) lives and works in Sydney. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from UNSW. His practice traces formation, entropy and absence: drawing on the Sinospheric systems of thought and his training in architecture, he examines how perception is shaped by technology and infrastructure, exploring contact and distance through thresholds of transparency and opacity that reveal how experiences of access and exclusion shift over time.

Situ participated in the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (2025) through HOME, the Australian Pavilion exhibition, where he undertook a residency. He has also held residencies at Artspace and Bundanon, alongside research residencies in China. Selected solo exhibitions include Temple, Artspace, Sydney (2026); Huoheian, Artspace, Sydney (2026); 旄 (Metal), Australian National University, Canberra (2025); Sciography, Bankstown Arts Centre, Sydney (2025); Tectonic, Passage Gallery, Sydney (2024); Rift 釔, University of Sydney, Sydney (2022); and Holding Patterns, 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, Sydney (2020). He has presented in group exhibitions at 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, Bankstown Arts Centre and Passage Gallery, and was shortlisted for the Create NSW Artspace Visual Arts Fellowship and the Lee Ufan Arles x Maison Guerlain Prix Art & Environment.
