Alice Gong Xiaowen (b. 1994) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2016) and an MFA in Sculpture from the Yale School of Art (2025). Her sculptures and installations combine sound, metal casting, ephemeral materials and ready-made objects to defamiliarise the customs through which identity and authenticity are constructed, reconstituting them as lineages in flux.

Recent solo exhibitions include Heavy Fog, Franz Kaka, Toronto (2025); Sustain, Gallery Vacancy, Shanghai (2025); Asymptote, circling, CHAMBER lower_cavity, Holyoke (2024); and Malar, House of Seiko, San Francisco (2023). Her work has also been shown in group exhibitions including Fourth River, Romance, Pittsburgh (2025); Can Thought Go On Without A Body?, Stilllife, New York (2024); and Adaptation, Franz Kaka, Toronto (2024). Gong Xiaowen is the recipient of the Susan H. Whedon Award (2025), the Explore and Create Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts (2022), the UrbanGlass Winter Scholarship Award (2019) and the John W. Kurtich Foundation Travel Fellowship (2015). In 2026 her work was presented by Franz Kaka at Art Basel, Switzerland.
